How do you know how much your personal injury claim is worth? I get this question all the time.
I’m Michael Jeffcoat and this is The Real Deal. I help injured people just like you get the money they need to get their lives back on track after an injury.
There are three main drivers of the value of a personal injury claim, like a car accident claim. The first one of those is, how badly was the person injured? If someone has broken their arm and their leg, that case is going to be deserving of more compensation than a case where someone’s just been bruised up. That makes sense, doesn’t it?
Another driver of the value of an injury claim is, does the claim, does the injured person qualify for other categories of damages that might be available, like lost income, or mental anguish, or physical pain? Those kinds of categories of damages are what insurance companies and courts and lawyers look for when deciding on what a claim is worth.
And then the last thing is, how clear is legal responsibility? Liability is legal responsibility. Can the injured person prove, to the extent that they need to, who’s responsible for the injury? If that can be proven very, very clearly, then that’s going to be a stronger case deserving of more compensation than a case where it’s one person’s word against someone else’s word.
