WEST COLUMBIA, SC – A 67-year-old woman died Monday morning when a car collided with a tractor-trailer on a roadway in West Lexington County, The State reports.
Police say the incident occurred at 6:57 a.m. near the intersection of Old Dunbar Road and Burroughs Avenue. A 2013 Chevy Malibu containing two occupants crashed into the rear of a 2015 Peterbilt tractor-trailer as both vehicles travelled east on Old Dunbar Road.
Medics transported the driver of the Malibu to a local hospital. The passenger, identified as Debra Lee Kittrell of West Columbia, died from injuries sustained in the wreck. Kittrell was unrestrained at the time of the crash.
Neither the driver nor the passenger of the tractor-trailer sustained injuries in the accident.
A full investigation of the collision is underway.
