NEWBERRY COUNTY, SC – One person died and two more were hospitalized after a head-on collision involving three vehicles on SC-121 south of Whitmire, reports WYFF 4.
Police say the crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday night on SC-121 near Sulphur Springs Road when a northbound Kia collided head-on with a southbound Ford truck. The Kia then sideswiped a Mazda.
The collision caused the Ford to catch on fire, and the driver of the Ford died at the scene.
A teen passenger in the Ford and the driver of the Kia were both injured and airlifted to hospitals for care.
The driver and passenger in the Mazda did not need to go to the hospital.
A full investigation of the crash is underway.
