YORK CO., SC – One person died and another went to the hospital after a two-vehicle collision on State Route 72 near York on Wednesday afternoon.
WBTV reports that the crash occurred around 2:26 p.m. at the intersection of Old Limestone Road, or State Route 72, and Meadow Road.
A 47-year-old woman from Charlotte ignored a stop sign as she drove south on Meadow Road and crashed into a westbound car on Old Limestone Road. Authorities have identified the driver on Meadow Road as Amy Staff.
The driver of the vehicle on Old Limestone died at the scene of the collision. Police have not publicly identified the victim.
Staff sustained injuries in the crash, for which she was taken to Piedmont Medical for treatment. She faces charges for failing to stop at a stop sign.
