News: 1 dead when motorcycles and box truck collide in Olanta

OLANTA, SC – A 21-year-old from Alcolu was killed in a three-vehicle crash involving two motorcycles and a box truck in west Florence County on Thursday afternoon.

WBTW News 13 reports that the crash happened at 3:35 p.m. near the intersection of West Turbeville Highway and Park Avenue.

Police say the box truck was northbound on Park Avenue when it collided with the two motorcycles, which were headed west on the West Turbeville Highway, also known as Highway 378.

One motorcyclist died in the crash. Authorities identified him as Bates Coy McCutchen. The other motorcyclist went to the hospital with injuries.

The driver of the box truck did not sustain injuries in the accident.

An investigation of the incident is underway.
