JOHNS ISLAND, SC – Two people died in a crash after fleeing police in Charleston County on Saturday, WBTW reports.
The wreck happened after 1 a.m. when a 2007 Nissan collided with a tree close to Brownswood Road and Dogpatch Lane.
Authorities have not named the two people who died in the crash. Police say they pursued the Nissan in connection with a drive-by-shooting on Michelle Lane but cancelled the chase when they lost sight of the car. The Nissan, they say, was headed east on Brownswood Road when the crash occurred.
Police found a rifle in the Nissan, which they think was used in the shooting on Michelle Lane.
