PIEDMONT, SC – Medics airlifted one man early Monday afternoon after a fiery two-car collision in Piedmont that involved a Greenville County deputy.
WYFF 4 reports that the incident happened just after noon on Augusta Road near Valley Brook Road.
Police say a deputy’s Ford F150 crashed into the driver’s side of a van. The deputy was on duty and headed south on Augusta Road with his lights and sirens activated when the van turned left in front of the truck from the eastbound lane of Valley Brook Road.
The collision caused the van to ignite. The driver of the van sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Augusta Burn Center in Georgia.
The deputy sustained non-critical injuries, for which he received treatment at Greenville Memorial.
