SUMMERVILLE, SC – Emergency vehicles responded to a collision that closed westbound lanes of traffic this morning in Berkeley County for over two hours, reports Live 5 WCSC.
Police say the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. on the westbound side of I-26 near mile marker 199 and the exit for North Main Street.
Motorists were warned to pursue an alternate route or to expect prolonged delays in the area of the collision. All westbound lanes were closed for about thirty minutes following the crash, at which point one lane re-opened. Crews worked to clear the scene completely by 11:04 a.m.
