CHARLESTON, SC – A man is facing multiple charges after a hit-and-run crash in downtown Charleston left a pedicab driver seriously injured Friday morning.
According to WCBD, a sedan collided with the pedicab at about 2:15 a.m. near the intersection of Meeting Street and George Street.
The pedicab operator was rushed to Medical University of South Carolina with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the sedan, 22-year-old Andrew Demetre, initially fled the scene. He was stopped by officers and taken into custody a short time later.
Demetre is facing charges of felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury or death and hit and run with death or injury.
