ABBEVILLE, SC – A driver died late Monday morning when his vehicle collided with a box truck on an Abbeville County highway, WYFF 4 reports.
Police say the incident happened just before noon on South Carolina Highway 28 near Wilton Road. For unknown reasons, a westbound truck veered from its lane and crashed head on into an eastbound Freightliner box truck.
The westbound driver of the truck died at the scene of the collision. Officials have not yet identified this person.
It is unclear if the driver of the box truck sustained injuries, but authorities say that two passengers from the box truck went to the hospital after the accident. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.
The crash remains under investigation.
