CLARENDON CO., SC – A driver died, and a passenger was hospitalized, after their vehicle crashed along a roadway near Summerton on Monday night, abc15 News reports.
Police say the incident happened around 11:39 p.m. near the intersection of HT Everetts Road, or State Road S-14-306, and Furse Road.
For reasons unknown, the driver failed to stop at a stop sign, left the roadway, and overturned.
The driver died at the scene of the crash. Authorities have not publicly identified the victim.
Medics transported a passenger from the vehicle to an area hospital for injuries sustained in the wreck. The severity of those injuries remains unclear.
The incident remains under investigation with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
