JASPER CO., SC – A Saturday night crash involving a pickup truck with two occupants killed a 27-year-old on a state road near Hardeeville, reports Bluffton Today.
Police say the incident happened around 11:25 p.m. on State Road S-27-34, or Purrysburg Road, in the area of Beck’s Ferry Road. This is just east of the state line that separates South Carolina and Georgia.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a westbound 2008 Nissan pickup truck ran off the right side of State Road S-27-34 before re-entering the roadway and exiting again on the left side. The vehicle overturned after hitting a ditch, at which point the driver was thrown from the pickup truck and died at the scene.
Authorities identified the victim as Egar Macedonio from Gaffney.
The Nissan carried one passenger, who did not sustain injuries in the crash.
The cause of the accident is unclear at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
