ORANGEBURG, SC – One person died when a tractor-trailer collided with an SUV on westbound I-26 in central Orangeburg County Monday morning, The State reports.
Police say the accident happened around 2:15 a.m. at mile marker 147. For unknown reasons, the driver of a 2016 Jeep Patriot stopped in a westbound lane of I-26. The lights on the Jeep were turned off, and a westbound semi-truck crashed into the rear of the vehicle.
The driver of the SUV died at the scene of the collision. The truck driver did not sustain injuries in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
