PENDLETON, SC – A collision involving only one vehicle killed a 16-year-old driver on a highway in north Anderson County early Sunday morning, reports WCBD News 2.
Police say the accident occurred around 2:10 a.m. on State Highway 76 near Lafrance Road in Pendleton when the teen’s eastbound 2013 Chrysler crossed through the westbound side of the road and left the highway. The vehicle then collided with a utility pole.
The coroner pronounced the teen dead at the scene of the accident and speculated that he may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
The incident remains under investigation.
