NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – A vehicle collided with a utility pole near Charleston International Airport and caught fire yesterday afternoon, causing traffic lights in the area to go out.
WCIV reports that firefighters arrived on the scene at Aviation Avenue and Core Road by 1:40 p.m., at which point the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The driver was able to extricate themselves and no one was in the vehicle at the time.
It does not appear as though anyone was injured, and the circumstances leading up to the crash remain unclear at this time.
