News: 1 dead in Anderson Co. bicycle hit-and-run

ANDERSON CO., SC – A 33-year-old cyclist died after a vehicle collided with the rear of his bicycle on a road near Williamston on Monday morning.

WYFF 4 reports that the incident occurred in east Anderson County just after 5:30 p.m. on Beaverdam Road near Beaver Run Lane.

Police say the driver of a 2005 Chevy SUV rear-ended the bicycle as both parties travelled south on Beaverdam Road. The SUV driver fled the scene of the accident.

Authorities identified the bicyclist as Aaron Dodd of Williamston. Dodd suffered severe brain injuries and died several hours after the crash.

Police located and arrested the SUV driver. They identified her as 57-year-old Anita Darlene Seibert of Pelzer.

Seibert’s initial charges include speeding and leaving the scene of an accident with bodily injury.
