RAVENEL, SC – One person was killed and a man was taken into custody following a suspected DUI crash near Ravenel early Sunday.
According to WCBD, The crash took place along highway 165 near Shillelagh Oaks Parkway shortly after 1 a.m.
Charleston County Sheriff’s Deputies say the driver of a northbound GMC pickup truck drifted into the southbound lanes of the freeway, where it slammed head-on into a Chevrolet van.
An unidentified passenger of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver’s condition is unclear.
The driver of the pickup, 29-year-old Jose Ramirez-Sandoval was taken into custody on two counts of felony DUI resulting in death.
