News: Teen killed, 2 hurt when pickup hits dump truck on Johns Island

JOHNS ISLAND, SC – A 14-year-old girl was killed and two people were injured in a wrong-way collision between a dump truck and a pickup last Friday, WCSC reports.

The fatal accident took place on River Road close to Murraywood Road shortly before 1 p.m. on June 17.

Police say the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when they collided, although it is unclear which driver was at fault.

A 14-year-old North Charleston girl who was a front-seat passenger in the pickup truck was declared dead at the scene.

The drivers of both vehicles suffered only minor injuries.

The Charleston Police Department is continuing its investigations. We will provide further updates as they become available.
