News: Gilbert man ejected, killed in Lexington crash

LEXINGTON, SC – A 21-year-old man died after his vehicle crashed along a roadway in central Lexington County early Sunday morning, reports The State.

Officials say the incident happened around 4 a.m. at the intersection of Augusta Highway, or U.S. 1, and Calks Ferry Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed that, for unknown reasons, the southbound vehicle veered left off of Augusta Highway and collided with a traffic signal. The force of the collision threw the unrestrained driver from the vehicle, and he died at the scene.

Authorities identified the victim as Giovani Maya Garcia.

The incident remains under investigation with law enforcement.
