News: Motorcyclist dies in 2-vehicle Cherokee Co. crash

BLACKSBURG, SC – A North Carolina motorcyclist died Monday night in a collision with an SUV during a police pursuit in Blacksburg, reports Fox Carolina.

Police say the incident happened around 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of West Cherokee Street and Mountain View Drive.

State troopers were pursuing the motorcyclist on West Cherokee Street when the biker failed to stop at the intersection. He was struck by a Ford Escape that entered the intersection from Mountain View Drive.

The motorcyclist died at the scene of the collision. Authorities identified him as 21-year-old Joseph Wyatt Stancil.

No additional injuries have been reported from the accident. Police have not yet shared their reasons for pursuing Stancil.
