News: Pickens Co. dump truck hits mail truck, killing 1

SUNSET, SC – A U.S. Postal Service worker died after his mail truck collided with a dump truck on Highway 11 in Sunset on Friday afternoon, WYFF News 4 reports.

Police say the crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 11 and Roy F. Jones Road, or Little Eastatoe Road.

The postal worker was driving a 1993 Grumman LLV mail truck south on Highway 11 when he collided with a northbound 2000 Peterbilt dump truck. After the collision, the mail truck left the roadway and ran into a ditch.

The postal worker died at the scene of the crash. Authorities identified him as 41-year-old Mark Douglas Hunt Jr.

Police say speed may have been a factor for the postal worker.

It is unclear whether the dump truck driver sustained any injuries in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
