News: Charleston crash with injuries closes lanes on I-526 E

CHARLESTON, SC – A multi-vehicle crash on the eastbound side of I-526 caused lane closures and traffic delays in Charleston on Thursday night, reports WCBS News 2.

Police say the incident happened around 9:42 p.m. on I-526 E, or the Mark Clark Expressway, east of the Don Holt Bridge.

Authorities have not commented on how the crash happened, but say that several people sustained injuries.

In the aftermath of the collision, officials closed all eastbound lanes of I-526 between Exit 20 and Exit 23 A. Motorists were alerted to expect delays, especially between Virginia Avenue and Clements Ferry Road.

The incident remains under investigation. Our team will work to update the blog if we learn more about injuries, how the crash happened, or the number of vehicles involved.
